Royal Wedding Inspires Black Voice Hat Contest

The Black Voice recently announced a hat contest for local churches. The contest is open to the community and the first place winner will receive a $100 contribution to their church’s scholarship fund and a gift card from a local hat vendor. Second place will receive a $50 gift card, and third place will receive a $25 gift card. The deadline for submission is May 26th.

According to Rachel Strugatz from, “The royal wedding is the first time in decades that hats are expected to markedly make a comeback, and milliners are rejoicing. American hat designer Eugenia Kim already thinks Kate Middleton has impacted the hat trend and there has been a recent increase in demand for her ornate pieces from buyers.”

Participants can enter as many times as they choose. The winners of the hat contest will be chosen by a select group of fashion experts to be highlighted at the end of the contest and featured in a special edition of the Black Voice News.
