"I am interested in the study of the Underground Railroad for several reasons. This venture will enable me to participate though vicariously, in a period of history in which my forefathers and others trekked in search of freedom in a new land. The Underground Railroad will facilitate enlightened perspectives of this facet of history, thus helping to further educate myself and others. Not only will this study provide materials and experiences, but also the incentive to share the information with students, staff, and community groups, as well as to network with others who are taking or have experienced this journey."
