Q: Why are you interested in the study of the Underground Railroad?

  1. Underground RR is necessary for understanding the cultural aspect of a people wrongly enslaved.
  2. Underground RR exemplifies intelligence of slaves and slave culture.
  3. Underground RR is one aspect of Abolitionist movement.
  4. Underground RR is comparable to Moses leading Jews out of Egypt and Jews in hiding during Nazi-controlled 1940s Eastern Europe. I am Jewish, & therefore the aspect of escape & freedom & bondage is of interest to me.
  5. Important historical event + incredible planning (on part of Underground RR) + Free Trip = A Great Time!
