Q: Why are you interested in the study of the Underground Railroad?
- Underground RR is necessary for understanding the cultural aspect of a people wrongly enslaved.
- Underground RR exemplifies intelligence of slaves and slave culture.
- Underground RR is one aspect of Abolitionist movement.
- Underground RR is comparable to Moses leading Jews out of Egypt and Jews in hiding during Nazi-controlled 1940s Eastern Europe. I am Jewish, & therefore the aspect of escape & freedom & bondage is of interest to me.
- Important historical event + incredible planning (on part of Underground RR) + Free Trip = A Great Time!
