Harding House Amid reports of the possibilities of snakes on the road, most of our group members braved the trail to remains of the Harding House. This "Station" on the Railroad was originally composed of a well, with a tunnel in the side that was connected to a huge cellar -- possibly several cellars -- located under a house the was built specifically to hide the cellar. Unlike last year's trip, we were unable to climb down into the cellar for a closer look, but it was an equally emotional experience. This was especially true on the approach as Jerry Gore of the National Underground Railroad Museum led us in singing spirituals. |
