Writers Week — Southern California’s longest-running, free event devoted to writing and writers — continues at the University of California, Riverside Feb. 7-8 with award-winning novelists, poets and journalists.

Award-winning authors Jamaica Kincaid, Jayne Anne Phillips and David Shields headline a cast of noted writers who will participate in panel discussions and readings throughout the 36th annual Writers Week. The event regularly attracts seasoned authors and those just beginning their careers.

“We have an amazing line-up this year,” said Tom Lutz, professor of creative writing at UCR and director of Writers Week. Lutz also is editor-inchief of the Los Angeles Review of Books (LARB), which this year will interview writers during the weeklong event and produce short films about them for the LARB website. LARB is an online, nonprofit, multimedia literary and cultural arts magazine.
