Free Movies Screenings in Downtown Riverside

Two more movies are scheduled to be shown through Riverside Downtown Partnership’s (RDP) “Movies and Music on Main” series.

Thursday, September 9th — Disney/Pixar’s ‘UP’, a comedy adventure about a 78-year-old balloon salesman Carl Fredricksen, who finally fulfills his lifelong dream of a great adventure when he ties thousands of balloons to his house and flies away to the wilds of South America. But he discovers all too late that his biggest nightmare has stowed away on the trip: an overly optimistic 8-year-old Wilderness Explorer named Russell.

The final movie will be Thursday, September 23rd — ‘The Princess and the Frog’, Walt Disney Animation Studios presents this musical animated comedy set in the great city of New Orleans.

From the creators of The Little Mermaid and Aladdin comes a modern twist on a classic tale, featuring a beautiful girl named Tiana (Anika Noni Rose), a frog prince who desperately wants to be human again, and a fateful kiss that leads them both on a hilarious adventure through the mystical bayous of Louisiana.

The movies start at 8:15 p.m., but the evening begins with free music at 7 p.m. The movies are projected on a big outdoor screen in the Civic Plaza on Main Street between Mission Inn and University avenues.

Attendees are encouraged to come early and bring their own chair to secure a good seat. Nearby downtown restaurants will be open late, and refreshments and goodies are available for purchase onsite including hotdogs, popcorn and other yummy refreshments.

Downtown Riverside is the place to be every Thursday bustling with lots of fun activities all summer long.

Riverside Arts Walk is every first Thursday of the month from 6-9 p.m., and in addition to the movie nights, free live entertainment by local bands on the following date: September 16 from 7-9 p.m.

The Movies and Music on Main Street summer series is hosted by RDP, sponsored by the City of Riverside and it’s Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department.
