G.I. Jobs magazine recently selected Riverside City College (RCC), a community college that has served veteran students since World War 1, as a "Military Friendly School" for 2011.
The national magazine based its selection upon a survey and interviews with veterans across the country. “Military Friendly School” is a distinction that determines which of the 7,000 colleges, universities, and trade schools nationwide offer the best education, value, and welcome. This award places RCC in the top 15% of all higher education institutions in the United States.
"This honor gives due recognition to our Veterans’ Services," said Lorraine Anderson, dean of Admissions and Records. "Veterans certified to receive VA benefits at RCC totaled 1,612 from July 1, 2009 through March 1, 2010. Now, with the start of a new academic year and a new beginning for our three-college system, our Norco and Moreno Valley colleges will soon be issuing separate certifications for the veterans they serve."
