For over 13 years, Ron Groom worked diligently for the County of Riverside in various administrative positions. Recently, Groom was laid off as a result of department budget deficits.
However, he has found a new calling to survive in this tough economy, and has started his own janitorial business, Express Janitorial Solutions. Ironically, Groom was working as the manager of the Budget Department of the Administrative Services Officer for Riverside County Animal Services prior to being laid off.
“I was surprised,” said Groom.
“Being in charge of the budget, I realized that the department faced huge challenges. But due to my critical position with the department, I thought I would be retained.”
Groom is one of the thousands of Californian’s who have to deal with foreclosure, destroyed credit, and a myriad of other financial problems, all of which have resulted from state’s “My back was against the wall,” said Groom. “I had to think fast of what I need to do to keep the lights on. Fortunately, I have many prayer warriors on my side praying for me. I know that the Lord will continue to bless me.”
That was when Groom decided to leave behind his career in administration and start his own cleaning business.
“I want to set my own hours and be my own boss,” he said. "This profession offers me the challenge of creating a new lucrative opportunity for myself. I’m up to the challenge.”
