16th Annual Christian Cotillion-Beautillion Scholarship Ball

The 16th Street SDA Church “Christian Cotillion-Beautillion” recently celebrated the 16th annual Scholarship Awards/Coming Out Ball at the Hilton Hotel in San Bernardino CA.

The Senior Pastor of 16th Street SDA Church, Anthony W. Paschal had the distinct honor and privilege of presenting ten debutantes and two beaus at this capacity filled glamorous and auspicious occasion as they made their debut into society the pinnacle of the Christian Cotillion-Beautillion experience.

Dr. Emil Dean Peeler, the director of church growth and evangelism for the Southeastern California Conference and Pastor Martin L. Howard of Perris 5th Street SDA Church; joined together as the dynamic duo as Master of Ceremonies of the event. Councilman Rikki Van Johnson of the 6th Ward bestowed “Certificates of Appreciation” to the CCB, Ms. Cheryl Brown President of the San Bernardino Chapter of the NAACP was also in attendance.

The speaker of the gala was Elder DeVon Franklin a studio executive in Hollywood. Mr. Franklin is the Vice President of Productions for Columbia Pictures. He was just named one of the top 35 executives under 35 years of age in the entertainment business, In his inspirational charge to the Deb’s and Beau’s, DeVon Franklin emphasized for them to always strive to do their best and never give up on their dreams.

The twelve CCB participants have successfully completed a six month journey of civic and cultural seminars with workshops.

Their experience also included viewing a performance of “Dream Girls” at the Ahmanson Theater in Los Angeles California. The Debs and Beaus participated in a talent show as well as a etiquette luncheon on March 18, 2010. The Debs and Beaus began and will be ending their journey with a public service project at the Ronald Mc Donald House in Loma Linda.
