Executive Director of Riverside County Medical Association Fights Cancer with a Party

Community leader and health advocate Dolores Green, Executive Director of Riverside County Medical Association, is rolling up her sleeves as chair of the second annual summer gala for the American Cancer Society’s Inland Empire Area Office.

Fighting Together For More Birthdays is the gala theme, and the event will be held on August 21, 2010 at the Victoria Club in Riverside.

“I am pleased to serve as Chair of this year’s Gala,” says Green, a well-known activist and health leader in the Inland Empire. “Cancer has touched many of us, either personally or through a colleague or friend, and it is my honor to give back to the American Cancer Society, who supports our community and our families and friends through a very difficult time in their life.”

The funds raised during the gala support the American Cancer Society’s many programs which help cancer patients and their families with information and services that provide day-to-day help and emotional support.

Silver Sponsor for the event is Loma Linda University Cancer Center. Bronze Sponsors include Riverside Medical Clinic and Riverside County Medical Association.

“Some of the programs that warm my heart include the I Can Cope cancer education classes; the Road to Recovery patient transportation program; the Reach to Recovery program mentoring women with breast cancer; and Camp Reach for the Sky children’s camp for kids with cancer,” said Green.

Green’s dedication to the Society’s gala will, she hopes, enable many more Californians to live a full, long and healthy life with many more birthdays to come.

“Far too many of my friends have had cancer,” Green states. “But our event is here to raise funds so our neighbors in the Inland Empire can stay well or get well, and so that the American Cancer Society can find cures and we can fight back against cancer!”

Tables of ten are being sponsored for $1,500; and individual tickets for the event are $100 each. For more information, call Alyson Merrill, Executive Director at the American Cancer Society at (951) 300- 1217, or Cindy Hall at (951) 300 - 1206.
