Hundreds of Children Will Have a Toy to Unwrap This Holiday

By Rory O’Sullivan –

Riverside’s Jesus Andrews summed up Gram's Mission Bar-B-Q Palace’s toy drive best, “You get what you get and you don’t throw a fit.”

No fits were thrown during the toy drive and most children were grateful to have a gift this holiday season. The ages of the children ranged from just a few weeks to 16-years-old.

“The gifts are such a blessing,” said grandparent Jannice Fields, of Riverside. “You see I’m unemployed right now.”

Jasminique Hurt said, “It feels great to help people in need.” She helped coordinate the giveaway with her Grandmother Lenora Taylor.

“I just want to thank everyone who helped make it a success,” said Taylor.

“We couldn't have done it without this community.” She said she plans to make the toy drive an annual event.

“This is what the season is really supposed to be about,” said Fields.
