This Holiday Gram's Bar-B-Q Palace Will Also Have Toys On The Menu

By Rory O’Sullivan –

Gram’s BBQ Palace in downtown Riverside got into the Christmas spirit by hosting a toy drive for children in need. “There’s plenty of needy children and it’s a simple gift,” said Robert Rivas who worked at nearby Don Carlos Hair Salon.

“There is no thought ... you just do it,” as he donated a doll.

Local businesses from downtown also helped with the toy drive including Manhattan’s, Crescent Jewel, and Mario’s Place to name a few.

“All of Downtown came together,” said coordinator Lenore Taylor. She also said “it’s important for the kids that receive toys to understand this community cares about them.”

Several other members of the community dropped toys off including the Liberty Riders Bike Club.

More than 50 toys were donated during the event. The gift distribution takes place December 23, 2011 and is scheduled to include an appearance by Santa Claus and 99.1 KGGI radio station personalities.

“We pick one family and make sure they have a good Christmas,” said coordinator Ron Gardner. “That is what this time of year is all about.”

Donations are still being accepted for the toy drive and can be brought to Gram’s Bar-B-Q Palace located at 3527 Main Street Riverside, CA 92501 during normal business hours. For more info call (951) 782-8219.
