The Riverside County Black Chamber of Commerce was host to the 2011 Business Explosion.

This event served two very important purposes. First was to raise funds for 4 charities to include the Arthritis Foundation, American Heart Association, F. I.A.T.M Group and Locks of Love and the other to show that through “True Collaboration” anything is possible.

With Riverside County Black Chamber of Commerce being a new chamber many doubted the success of an event so large.

President Christy Lancaster was quoted saying “If it takes my last breath to ensure the success of the Chamber and this Event, I am prepared to stop breathing.”

September 15, 2011 marked the kickoff of the two day event which brought approximately 700 total attendees at the beautiful Eagle Glen Golf Course. The highlight of the event was the VIP Luncheon featuring guest speakers Roy Perez, Chair for the California Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Maggie Anderson from the Empowerment Experiment that flew in from Chicago to deliver a power packed speech that gave many the chills and received a standing ovation.

As Julian Canete President for the California Hispanic Chamber of Commerce approached the stage he carried a frame that wasn’t to be seen by the crowded, standing room audience. He began to speak of how important this event was to both the African American and Hispanic Communities then he presented Christy Lancaster, President of the Riverside County Black Chamber of Commerce with an award of Recognition on behalf of the California Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. This Award is the first ever to be given to an African American woman.
