Senator Gloria Negrete McLeod hosted the 3rd Annual Small Business of the Year Awards, where she recognized the community involvement and special impacts of local businesses within the 32nd Senate District.
The awards banquet was held in Fontana last week where she honored businesses with deep roots in the community, some going back nearly 70 years, while others help create opportunities for students to learn valuable skills and on the job training.
“These ten small businesses engender the true American entrepreneur spirit and are deserving of this special attention,” said Senator Negrete McLeod.
“It is appropriate that we recognize these small business owners who are the backbone of our economy during National Small Business Week. More than half of all Americans either own or work for a small business and they create 60 to 80 percent of new jobs nationally, small businesses are innovative, help lead California in the creation of 21st century jobs and increase our competitiveness,” added Senator Negrete McLeod.
