Civil rights activist Najee Ali, director of Project Islamic H.O.P.E. (www.projectislamichope.com) will lead a protest with a coalition of civil rights activists this Saturday April 23 at 11 a.m. outside the home of Marilyn Davenport, the Orange County GOP official who has so far refused request to resign from her post as a elected member of the Orange County GOP Central Committee after it was discovered that she emailed a racist image depicting President Obama and his family as chimpanzees to several colleagues with the message: “Now you know why — No birth certificate!” Davenport said it reflected the president’s character.
“Davenport has a long history of controversial stands on race in Orange County. This racially motivated attack on President Obama and his family is unwarranted. Davenport, a republican and supporter of the Tea Party, is an embarrassment and disgrace to American politics. She has refused to come out of hiding and face her critics publicly, so our coalition will simply take the fight and protest right to her front doorstep this Saturday April 23rd demanding she resign from her office,” stated Ali of Project Islamic H.O.P.E.
This rally and protest is sponsored by Project Islamic H.O.P.E. (Members: Rev. K.W. Tulloss of Rev. Al Sharpton’s, National Action Network; Melvin Snell, President of the L.A. Humanity Foundation and a coalition of community activists).
