32nd Black History Parade Honors 11 Historical Riverside Families

Saturday, February 12 , 2011, 8am - 4pm - The 32nd Annual Black History Parade and Expo - will honor eleven historical Riverside families who have provided generations of service themed The Gift of Legacy. Grand Marshal Bernice Micelli. Honoreed families include: - The Adams Motorsports Park, Bauman's Tow Service, Inc., New Jerusalem Christian Center/Riverside Opportunity Center, Zacateca Restaurant, Faith Temple Church Ministries, J.E. Wall Victoria Manor / St. James Restoration Tabernacle, B & J Garage, D' Elia's Grinder, Double A Towing. Saturday, February 21, 2011, In celebration of African American History Month, Loma Linda University's School of Religion's Humanities program presents a Celebration of Negro Spirituals. The celebratory concert will take place on February 12, 2011 at 6:30 pm. The concert is free and open to the public. It will be held at the Campus Hill SDA Church in Loma Linda, CA. In honor of this year’s Black History Month Golden Valley Middle School will be performing the play “Now Let Me Fly” which portrays the case of Brown verses the Board of Education, the story of the unsung heroes and heroines behind the struggle to end legalized segregation in America. The play will be held on February 25, 2011 beginning at 7:30 a.m. to 10:13 a.m. in the MU Room at Golden Valley Middle School.
