Longtime San Bernardino resident, Craig Sims was funeralized this past Monday at Ecclesia Christian Church in San Bernardino. Born to Carl Lee and Clement ine Renee Sims on March 26, 1966 in San Bernardino, California.
Sims was the second child to this union.
He graduated from San Gorgonio High School, San Bernardino in 1984 and attended Howard University in Washington D.C. for his freshman year. He returned to San Bernardino and obtained a position with Mission Foods.
Later, Sims went to Maryland where he w orked for a propane company for two years before returning to California. He worked in various group homes, including Boy’s Town in Omaha, Nebraska where he transported, assisted, and counseled disabled adults and juveniles.
Sims found working in this field a rewarding experience and later moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where he continued the same type of occupation. He was employed with the State of Nevada, working for Summit View Correctional Youth Facility. He worked for many years before his on-the-job injury. Due to Sim’s injury, he began taking classes to become a paralegal. He was very excited about this move as he spent most of his time on the computer.
Sims was united in holy matrimony with Janet McCloud Wildon on September 21, 1996.
To this union they were blessed with three children, Chaunt’l LeNeyce, David and Jerrad Wilson.
Sims attended Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church and later joined St. Paul AME Church. Sims, also known as “Bishop”, had a sincere love for Christ. He along with his wife worked actively in ministry from their home and in church.
His church home was True Word Interdenominational Church in Las Vegas, NV.
Sim’s mother, Clement ine Sims-Pye, his father Carl Lee Sims, cousin, Terence Van Lewis and his beloved wife, Janet preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his memory, daughter, Chaunt’l LeNyce Wilson of Las Vegas, NV; sons, David Wilson (Leonda) of Riverside, CA and Jerrad Wilson of Palo Alto, CA.
His sister, Stephanie Renee Sims and niece Candice Danielle Davis of San Bernardino, CA; brother, Garrett Pye of Denver, CO and sister, Pattaya Pye of Wyoming. Other close family members include: Darryl Jones of Alta Loma, CA, aunts; Minnie Anderson of Rancho Cucamonga, Barbara Sims of Paramount, Sally Sims of San Bernardino, Maurine (Willie) Henderson of Los Angeles, Juanita Brannon of Los Angeles, and Lynette (Joe) Jefferson of Doyline, LA; Herbert L. Sims of San Bernardino, Charles Coleman, Los Angeles, Eugene Coleman, Houston, TX, cousins; Kevin Coleman, Sumpter, SC, Antonio Coleman and a host of family and friends.
