The Apollo amateur Night auditions held October 12 at the UCR Cultural Events Center was enough to be a spectacular show in itself.
With the live performance just a day away on November 8, featuring Apollos New York east, it has become very apparent that the Inland Empire is home to some truly great talent. Harlem may be in for a pleasant surprise from the IE.
Todd Wingate, Director, Office of Cultural Events at UCR reported only 120 audition slots were available. He stated, the number of people calling for auditions far exceeded that number. Of which, there will only be 10-12 acts selected for live performances at the Riverside Municipal Auditorium on November 8. He added, the level of talent from the Inland Empire area is just awesome, people are going to see a really spectacular show. Were just glad UCR could assist in the effort.
Vanessa Brown, President for the Apollo Amateur Night on Tour, was truly amazed that the Inland Empire had a greater overall audition response than Los Angeles, which, was held on October 7.
The audition attracted a wide range of children and adults from virtually every ethnic background. Performances featured everything from gospel, latin, big band, opera, dance, instrumental, to comedy, rap, poetry, R&B, acappela, and duets. Now it is just a matter of time until one of the Inland Empires very own makes their way to the big apple. For more information contact (909) 787-4629.
