If you have never experienced a Bed and Breakfast, the Napa Inn is a good place to start. The Napa Inn, known as one of the wine countrys most romantic inns, is located on a quiet street in historical downtown Napa -- within an easy stroll of shops, restaurants and near the Wine Train and Copia, The American Center for Wine, Food & the Arts, the worlds leading cultural center dedicated to the discovery, understanding and celebration of wine, food and the arts in American culture.
The Napa Inn is comprised of two adjacent Victorians. The main inn is a Queen Anne Victorian -- built in 1899 as a wedding gift. The Buford House, next door to the main inn, was built in 1877 by a wealthy rancher from Barryesa as his town house. After various uses, renovations, and moves over the years, the Napa Inn was purchased by the current innkeepers, Brooke and Jim Boyer.
Upon arrival to the inn you are greeted by the innkeepers and guided to the parlor where you can relax while you are checked in. Unlike hotels, the check-in process is much more personal, including a tour of the inn.
Each room is furnished with antiques and art. If youre interested in a romantic getaway, request the opulent Simeons Room. The formal French theme, in cream, gold and celadon green, is reminiscent of a French Chateau. The room features a king-sized bed, fireplace, and high ceilings. The two-person whirlpool tub is the focal point of the bathroom.
If youre travelling with your family, you might want to request Angelinas Garden Room. This room has a ground floor private garden entrance. It has a private porch and outside dining area and a large bathroom. In the Main Inn there are six rooms including The Turret Suite, located on the third floor with peaked ceilings and dormer windows. The tiled bath is in the turret above the tower.
There is a canopied bed, fireplace, and eating nook in the main room, and a second sitting room with a daybed and balcony.
Breakfast at the Napa Inn is a gourmet extravaganza. Served by candlelight, it often includes a hot entrée, potato dish, hot fruit dish, breads, fresh fruit, homemade granola, juice and fresh coffee or tea. In the afternoon and evening, refreshments, tea and liqueurs are also served.
Just a short walk or free trolley ride away are some of the best restaurants and wine merchants on the coast. The Napa General Store located on the river in Downtown Napa features patio dining, live music, gourmet deli items, pizza, wine and cheese, gifts, and gourmet foods and picnic supplies.
Copia hosts outdoor concerts, movie screenings, cooking demonstrations, and wine tastings. And restaurants like Coles Chop House offer fine dining to discriminating palettes. If you want to visit the numerous wineries of the Napa Valley, you can simply hop on the Wine Train, and ride and taste the wines from your favorite vineyard. Some wineries host summer concerts, like Harry Belafonte and India.Arie at Mondavi.
