One of my old college buddies called me the other day with a major concern. Her concern was that although she has been involved in a relationship for the past 8 months, she has begun to dream about another man.

She explained to me that she wasn't going to act on the dreams but she liked having them. I asked her the question, do you think that your dream is a sign of wanting to end your current relationship? She said, I don't know but the dreams are getting stronger and I don't know what to do.

I really don't give advice I would just hate for it to backfire but I can offer this great piece of information that I read in Dr, Laura's book, 10 Stupid Things Couples do to Mess up Their Relationship.

There are times when the truth becomes cruel and destructive. Perhaps we could call these "good secrets." In the case of my friend, this sounds like a case of “good secrets.”

A “good secret” for example would be, you should never tell your partner your turned off because of a receding hairline, ripples, sagging, crow's feet or a few extra pounds.

We all need to age gracefully and accept the aging imperfections of our loved ones graciously. You also should never tell your partner that you've had sexy feelings about anyone real.

Instead you should remove yourself from that temptation and hike up your attention and affection with your partner. "It is amazing how being more attentive gets more back in return than just fantasizing in anger does." Lucid dreaming is dreaming while being aware that you are dreaming.

To become lucid in a dream you merely have to recognize you are dreaming. Realizing you are dreaming may not seem all that special, but becoming aware that you are dreaming can allow you to become the master of your dreams.

Do you believe my friend should tell her boyfriend or should she take Dr. Laura’s advice and file it in the “good secret” category? Write to us and let us know what you think: urbanchic@blackvoicenews.com
