Real estate professionals play a major role in the home buying process and should be chosen with great care. Before working with a real estate agent, get preapproved for a loan through your mortgage lender of choice.

What makes the agent successful?

How much time does the agent have for your home search?

Can the agent work with your schedule?

With preapproval information provided by your lender, an agent will have the information necessary to select homes in the correct price range. The agent can also give you practical advice on what features are best in a home.

When it comes time to make an offer on a home, the real estate agent will prepare a written offer and can use your preapproval to support your offer. Sellers are more likely to accept offers from buyers who have already arranged financing, giving yours an advantage over other offers.
