Over 100 friends and family celebrated the 90th birthday of Madeleine A. Seymour at the Hilton Hotel last Sunday. The birthday honored her work and her life. She taught school until she was 85. Friends and family members gave anecdotes about her life. Her daughter Charlotte Hall and son Larry Lacy told everyone present what it was like growing up in a household with her. "I've always appreciated the fact that my mother allowed me to be me. She let me make my own decisions," said Charlotte.
Granddaughter Donna Baker followed in her grandmother's footsteps and is a teacher. She spoke of the influences that Mrs. Seymour had on her life and if it had not been for her in her life she would have had a different outcome.
Mrs. Seymour and her husband Charlie have been married 64 years and during the dinner he was happy to be in her shadow as she celebrated with her pastor Anthony Paschal and church members from 16th Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Senator Gloria Negrete McLeod's office recognized her with a certificate.
