Young and budding fiction and poetry writers have until Dec. 31 to enter their best work for the Creative Writing Contest held by Cal State San Bernardino.

The university’s English Department and Office of Admissions and Student Recruitment are sponsoring the contest, which is accepting submissions from students grades 9-12. A student can enter a short story of up to 15 pages and/or two poems. Entries can be in English or Spanish. Winners will be honored at the Creative Writing Day awards ceremony in April at CSUSB. The event will feature novelist and poet Nikki Grimes, whose book, “Jazmin’s Notebook,” won the Coretta Scott King Award.
For entry forms or more information, call Alexandria LaFaye at (909) 880-5856 or download forms and flyers at cal.csusb.edu/Depts/english/creativewriting.htm.
