The universitys English Department and Office of Admissions and Student Recruitment are sponsoring the contest, which is accepting submissions from students grades 9-12. A student can enter a short story of up to 15 pages and/or two poems. Entries can be in English or Spanish. Winners will be honored at the Creative Writing Day awards ceremony in April at CSUSB. The event will feature novelist and poet Nikki Grimes, whose book, Jazmins Notebook, won the Coretta Scott King Award.
For entry forms or more information, call Alexandria LaFaye at (909) 880-5856 or download forms and flyers at cal.csusb.edu/Depts/english/creativewriting.htm.
