The Blood Bank of San Bernardino and Riverside Counties invites all healthy residents to donate at KSGN - Good News Radio Station blood drive in the La Sierra University Alumni Center at 11500 Pierce Street in Riverside, Wednesday, October 23 from 2 to 7 p.m.
As a special thank you for saving lives, all donors will receive a KSGN/Blood Bank T-shirt and a Blood Bank Desk Clock. For more information, call the Blood Bank at 1-800-879-4484.
People can experience what a wonderful feeling it is to help those in need and how surprisingly simple it is to give, said Deborah Salow, a Blood Bank vice president.
Healthy individuals who are at least 17 years of age are encouraged to give the gift of life (donors who have celebrated their 76th birthday must provide the Blood Bank with annual, written permission from their physician). All prospective donors should be free of infections or illness, weigh at least 110 pounds and not be at risk for AIDS or hepatitis. While helping patients, donors receive a free mini-physical. Donating blood takes about one hour and gives someone a lifetime.
The Blood Bank of San Bernardino and Riverside Counties was founded as a private, non-profit organization by the medical societies of San Bernardino and Riverside in 1951. The Blood Bank serves more than 30 hospitals and collects more than 90,000 pints of blood annually.
