Tom Gueston is a Literacy Tutor at the S.B. Public Library. This former military man who never says no to anyone gives generously of his time and talent. My mom taught me when someone needs help you help them, he said.
Another youth worker is Clifford Hackney who is the Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Club of San Bernardino. At a time when the club had lost support from private and government agencies, Hackney stepped in to take over and turned it around. He is intense, passionate and uses his passion to mentor youth. My mission is the same as the Boys & Girls Club, to inspire all young people to become productive, responsible citizens, he said.
Carmen Novella Webster, Drug and Alcohol Prevention Program Coordinator, Peoples Choice, Inc. formerly worked with the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program. It has brought me the reward of seeing some of our youth envision dreams, set goals, and go after college and employment. It has been challenging but certainly a worthwhile challenge, she stated.
Precious Wesleys fondest dream would be to have every youth register to vote for every one of them to be involved in the Democratic Central Committee. She also wants all of them to further their education. For 50 years she has been on that mission, educating and raising money for scholarships.
