Great-granddaughter of Booker T. Speaks at 150th Birthday Celebration

Sarah O’Neil Rush, M.D., the great granddaughter of Booker T. Washington, spoke last Friday afternoon at the Mission Inn during his 150th Birthday Celebration. Sarah was introduced by Kenneth Morris, great-great grandson of Booker T. Washington and great great-great grandson of Frederick Douglass. Also in attendance were Gloria Washington Jackson-Baskin, his granddaughter and Bonnie Jackson his great-granddaughter. Sarah is the 16th of 16 great-grandchildren of Booker T. Washington.

Sponsored by the Moreno Valley Black Chamber of Commerce Foundation, the 2006 6th Annual Ebony Fashion Fair for Riverside County was held at Moreno Valley Conference Center and it was a sold-out success with about 650 people attending. Linda Wright, President of the MVBCCF said, "We may have to get a larger facility next year, we had to turn people away." It was not o­nly a fashionable experience, the money from the ticket sales go towards Educational Services and Scholarship Funds.
