... the Inland Valley News proudly present the 5th Annual African Village Weekend Cultural Faire and Jazz Festival at Memorial Park in Upland, California, September 10th - 12th.

This year's African Village Weekend will feature a live performance by smooth jazz artist Randy Crawford, Grammy® Award winner Ricky Lawson, pianist Bobby Lyle, special guest guitarist Paul Jackson, Jr., violinist Mark Cargill, jazz artist Barbara Morrison, The York Quartet, featuring Jennifer York, guitarist Doc Powell, contemporary gospel/jazz artist S.P., and drummer Franklin Vanderbilt, along with other celebrity recording artists. The African Village Weekend promotes the legacy and tradition of African and African-American culture, customs and commerce celebrating through events that promote cultural awareness, fun and excitement in a bustling country fair atmosphere reminiscent of an African Village.

The purpose of the African Village Weekend is to positively present Black/African American life, culture and commerce to the community at large; to empower the Black/African American community; and to provide opportunities for economic growth and development. "We are extremely proud to be a part of this historic moment for our diverse community," states weekend founders Mr. Tommy and Dr. Gloria Morrow.

Those who attend the African Village Weekend can expect many wonderful shows and events. Included in the African Village Weekend will be music, entertainment, community awareness seminars on education, health and wellness, celebrity signings, cultural activities, storytelling and quilting, as well as great food. For those who simply want to shop, the African Village Weekend offers opportunities to purchase goods and services from the many vendors who will be in attendance. The African Village Weekend will display the wide array of sights, sounds and smells that are representative of Black/African culture and life.

Preferred Daily VIP Seating (Admission included): $45 Orchestra, $25 general. Hours of Operation: Fri: 4 p.m.- 10 p.m., Sat. 10 a.m.- 10 p.m. and Sun. 10 a.m. - 9 p.m.
