Some 2,000 cadets who comprise San Bernardino City School District’s California Cadet Corps participated in a day of unity and competition.

Directed by Assistant Superintendent Narciso Cardona and commanded by Major Jornal Miller, the brigade of cadets assembled in mass, wearing their khaki uniforms on the San Gorgonio football field. Family members filled the bleachers in anticipation of the day's events.

Congressional representative John Weininger from Congressman Joe Baca’s office was on hand to observe the day's festivities. The events included: 'pass in review,' track & field, basketball, volleyball and tug of war.

Among the core values shared by each cadet are self discipline, integrity, moral courage, initiative and team work.

In just three short years, the district's California Cadet Corps units have been established on six middle school and high school campuses. These include, Arrowview Middle School - commanded by Cpt. David Hernandez, Curtis Middle School - commanded by Cpt. Charles Martin, Serrano Middle School - commanded by Cpt. Pernell Johnson, Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School - commanded by Cpt. Ed Falcon, The Pal Center - commanded by Cpt. Jeff Allen and San Andreas High School’s Leadership Skills Academy (LSA) commanded by Cpt. Joseph Alo.
