Dia S. Poole has joined the Administrative Office of the Courts Office of Governmental Affairs (OGA) as a senior governmental affairs analyst and communications liaison.
Since coming to Sacramento, Ive gained an in-depth understanding of the legislative and executive branches of government. In this new position with Judicial Council, I can draw on that experience and gain new insight into this third branch of government, Poole said.
In addition to becoming OGAs communications liaison, Dia will staff the Judicial Councils new Commission to Secure Stable Funding for Justice and serve as editor-in-chief for OGAs monthly publication, The Capitol Connection.
This appointment ends a four-year appointment by former Governor Gray Davis as the public affairs director for the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing.
Prior to her gubernatorial appointment in 2000, Dia served as a policy consultant in several legislative and committee assignments at the State Capitol, including the offices of former California State Assembly Speakers Robert Hertzberg and Antonio R. Villaraigosa, and as staff director for the California Legislative Black Caucus.
A graduate of San Bernardino Valley College and California State University San Bernardino (CSUSB), Poole worked for the County of San Bernardino for 13 years before accepting a California State Assembly Fellowship and relocating to Sacramento in 1994.
Poole maintains a home in San Bernardino and frequently returns to the Inland Empire where she serves on the CSUSB Alumni Association Board of Directors and participates in community education and outreach events. She was recently recognized by the CSUSB Professor for a Day program and was selected to co-host the 25th Anniversary Riverside Black History Month parade.
