Britni Erin Wilcher, 16, is the daughter of Allen and Phyllis Wilcher. Allen Wilcher is Supervising Parole Agent with the state of California, and Phyllis is a Supervising Social Worker with the Department of Children and Family Services in Los Angeles County.
Britni is the youngest of three daughters. Her oldest sister Myisha Wilcher-Roberts is a graduate of Hampton University and is currently working on her PhD at UCLA.
Shana Wilcher, her middle sister, is a recent graduate of Florida A&M University and will be leaving for Spain this month to become fluent in Spanish; upon her return she will enter law school.
Britni is currently a 4.0 junior at Claremont High School where is she active in both academic and extracurricular activities; she even made time to attend Citrus Community College. A graduate of Western Christian Elementary and El Roble Middle schools of Claremont, Britni has always been academically driven.
She was past recipient of the Rotary Award, Citizen Award, Scholars Athlete Award, and the Principals Honor Roll. She also participated in the Gifted and Talented Program at the University of California at Irvine. She was selected to serve as a member of the National College Boards Advisor Panel on Student Concerns for 2003-2005.
In her sixteen short years, Brinti has devoted an enormous amount of time and energy to student government, leadership and community involvement. Shes held treasurer, class secretary, class representative and cabinet member positions in middle school. Britni was elected three consecutive terms as class president and is currently a member of the Associated Student Body at Claremont High.
Her extracurricular activities include playing volleyball on two teams: the Arroyo Club team as Team Captain, and the Claremont High School volleyball team where she was voted MVP for two years.
She is also a member of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. where she holds the office of Vice President and previous positions of secretary and treasurer with Pals (Personal Academic Learning System), and finally a member of the Young Black scholars, Tavis Smileys Youth Leadership Group. She plays the piano and she is a member of the Youth Group at Abundant Living Family Church.
Britni has participated in numerous leadership conferences related to her community service work. Her community service involvement includes: donating teddy bears and designing placemats for sick children at the Los Angeles Childrens Hospital; singing and reading to senior citizens are various convalescent homes; volunteering at Hannah Foster Family Agency; supervising activities and programs for foster youths.
She donated and presented books to needy children and schools in the community, painted and restored houses for senior citizens through Habitat for Humanity in Pomona. And finally, she worked the Red Cross Blood Bank Drive, participated in the Martin Luther Day Parade and worked the African American Cultural Fair for the City of Diamond Bar with the Council of African American Parents (CAAPS).
