Hurrah for an End to Murder

The most heinous crime against the most defenseless has come to an end with Congress passing the ban on partial birth abortion. The right to choose shouldn't be an excuse for “I've changed by mind, kill it while it is being delivered.”

Partial Birth Abortion Law

I thank God for a President who is willing to stand up for what's right in the face of the increasingly vile evil of those who scream out for a “Woman's Right to Choose!”

I am old enough to remember when abortions were allowed only up until the first trimester; later, the time frame for social acceptability increased, and now, these murderers want to kill the child even as he or she is exiting the birth canal!

“Women's right to choose?” What about the child's “Inalienable rights ... [to] ... “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness?” What's next with these militant branches of feminists? Killing the child after it is born? Murdering the child up until its teen years? Executing anyone in disagreement with them? Where will it stop?

Scripturally speaking, life begins when the fetus becomes “a living soul” and this occurs at the instant of conception, for the functions of the soul are experienced by the fetus, as shown when John (the Baptist) leaped for joy in his mother's womb.

Scientifically speaking, the fetus is a complete human being the instant the total chromosomes contributed by the father and by the mother are joined. This, again, occurs at the point of conception.

I applaud the morality of President George W. Bush, and would love to encourage him to stand his ground without fail in this issue in the face of the insidious attempts to go against this new -- and righteous -- law.
In the words of the Scriptures, “Righteousness exalteth a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.”

I am glad that the president signed this bill to ban partial birth abortion and you should support him for doing so. It is the right thing to do.

Los Angeles School District Kudos

Kudos to the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) for providing kids with healthy snacks instead of candy bars, eliminating contracts with fast-food companies, offering students at least one vegetarian option at lunchtime, and piloting soy milk in five area schools.

According to the late Dr. Benjamin Spock, America's leading authority on child care, "children who grow up getting their nutrition from plant foods rather than meats have a tremendous health advantage. They are less likely to develop weight problems, diabetes, high blood pressure, and some forms of cancer."

Childhood is a time when eating habits are being formed. The LAUSD has definitely taken a step in the right direction by offing vegetarian options. Hopefully other school districts will soon follow suit. Parents and teachers can visit GoVeg.com and PETAKids.com for more information on healthy vegetarian fare.
