The Governing Board of Chaffey College is pleased to announce the appointment of Karen L. Sanders, director of financial aid.
Sanders will head the various functions the college offers to aid students with their educational expenses.
Sanders comes to Chaffey with more than eight years in the field of educational finance. Most recently she served as an independent financial aid consultant. She has a background of working with students from culturally diverse backgrounds. Sanders has 15 years of management experience and 13 years in accounting and finance.
A product of Lynwood High School and Compton Community College, Sanders went on to receive a bachelors degree in business administration. Currently she is enrolled in the Masters degree program at Fielding Graduate Institute. She will complete her degree in organization management. She plans to continue her education and to receive an Ed.D in education, and to eventually teach finance and accounting classes at the community college level.
Sanders also serves on the executive board of the California Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (CASFAA).
Sanders and her husband Anthony, an engineer for Bowing, are residents of Corona. They have lived in the Inland Empire for the last 12 years.
Sanders says Coming to Chaffey College is exciting. I can go and speak to school and community groups. I was not informed of what was available to me as a high school student and this position is giving me the opportunity to get more involved in the community. She says she really enjoys working to assist students and appreciates the vision on diversity.
