Just a few “Questions”: Does God love sinners --- dirty, low, mean people? Read John 3:16, and get the answer. Why do so many people love darkness rather than light? Read John 3:19 and get the answer. Did Moses give people the true bread from heaven? Read John 6:31-33. When should we pray?  Read Luke 18:1 and see. It is my delight to repeat these words seriously and urge everyone to read your Bible prayerful and think. These questions are by Annie Perry.

This is from a woman that I admire very much Maya Angelou: Some people smile right in your face but…..HATER: A hater is someone who is jealous and envious and spends all their time trying to make you look small so they can look tall. They are very negative people to say the least. Nothing is ever good enough! When you make your mark, you will always attract some haters… That’s why you have to be careful with whom you share your blessings and your dreams, because some folk can’t handle seeing you blessed. It’s dangerous to be like somebody else… If God wanted you to be like somebody else, He would have given you what He gave them!  Right? You never know what people have gone through to get what they have… The problem I have with haters is they see my glory but they don’t know my story… If the grass looks greener on the other side of the fence, you can rest assured that the water bill is higher there too! We’ve got some haters among us ! Some people envy you because you can: A) Have a Relationship with God; B) Light up a room when you walk in; C) Start your own business; D) Tell a man /woman to hit the curb (if he/she isn’t about the right thing; E) Raise your children without both parents being in the home. Haters can’t stand to see you happy. Haters will never want to see you succeed. More next week.

Be Blessed!

Modern Laws and Wisdom Applied to Ancient Scripture Makes a Better Society: Part 1 of 2

According to the Bible, elders are ordained to set values, and calibrate the moral compass of the Christian believers. The Bible speaks of elders as men and women of acquired wisdom. Christians are to inherit solid values, which are passed along from generation to generation.  It is the onus of Christian parents to teach their children biblical doctrine. Unfortunately, many in their efforts to be good Christians, sabotage their family relationships because the teachings that were acceptable 2000 years ago are not acceptable in society today. Parent and child relationships, and marriages, for instance, are sacrificed at an alarming rate when modern spiritual wisdom is not applied to early biblical tradition.

There was a time when parents would refer to the Bible as they beat their children. They felt the Bible justified their actions of administering harsh whippings. Proverbs 10:13 says a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding and Proverbs 13:24 – He that spareth the rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes. Following such biblical instructions today is considered child abuse and is punishable by criminal law. Many dogmatic Christians have lost custody of their children by blindly adhering to antiquated customs as taught by our elders of yesteryear. Due to this cruelty, many children runaway from home and live on the streets and/or, equally as bad, grow up to practice corporal punishment on their own children. Today the wise Christian understands that a child needs discipline; however, discipline is best administered by teaching and training with care, love, and patience - not by beating.

Much biblical instruction when taken verbatim and dogmatically used is detrimental to marital relationships also. Many women have left marriages when husbands insisted that she had no say so about matters and he was the supreme authority. 1Timothy 2:

11-12 says – Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man but to be in silence. In our modern world women are equal to men in the workplace and society at large or it’s called discrimination to which there are civil consequences, while in the home its called mental cruelty.  Men still practicing such archaic Christian doctrine have found themselves in divorce court.

Until a few years ago, many Christian churches used scripture to prevent women from becoming pastors or ministers. In 1 Corinthians 14:34 it says - Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak. Today, with the application of modern wisdom, love, and understanding many women are leaders in the church.

People of advanced understanding realize that if God can use a rock or a donkey to speak his word surely he can use any human gender of his creation. Many churches throughout the United States have missed out on anointed powerful female pastors and leaders because they were not adaptable to modern Christianity.

Causes Of Somali’s Piracy

Joseph A. Bailey, II, M.D.
A rule of Afrocentric rational and critical thinking is to never believe what anybody says, and especially Europeans. A second rule is to look on the other side of what you see, hear, read, or whatever seems obvious because “there are two sides (at least) to everything.” At the store, if you want a pound of candy, the clerk uses a Balance scale and places on a pan a one pound weight (the truth).

Candy is then put on the other pan till the two sides balance. But to discover the truth, researched information is fundamental to proving or disproving what people say—and even what you say. Before making a judgment, contents of opinions ought to always be examined (e.g. for ‘rocks’ among the pieces of ‘candy’ opinions) and the opposite side of opinions investigated thoroughly. Next, gathered facts to counter-balance opinions determine if the truth side is heavier. Or, if you have picked out the candy you want and put it on one pan, enough weights (truth) are put in the other pan to see how it balances—the “Flipside” Investigation Concept.

Hence, you have a better view of reality from which to devise action Plans A, B, and C. Let us now look at the other side of what the USA calls a “success” from having killed three Somali pirates in order to rescue one American and then hypocritically tooting their own horn about being morally right.  How is it that “killing” people, morals, and “success” can be used in the same sentence? Those who do this are admitting they are Brutes—i.e. operating out of the “Dark Side” (hatred, evilness, and sadism) of their character. A constantly recurring pattern in European history is as follows.  After deciding what belongs to others that would give them a sense of superiority and privileged luxuries, the first step in taking it is to declare their victims to be the enemy or subhuman in order to justify killing them. They do “killing” better than anybody else.  In turn, their victims retaliate and that is further justification for Brutes to seek out and kill the enemy. The same applies if their victims are standing in their way.  To illustrate, during the “Scramble for Africa” by European powers in the 19th century, the best of all that the Somali people had was raped and the people were left in shambles to fight each other in order to survive on what remained.  Primary survival for the Somali depended heavily on fishing.

Being militarily weak but well located in the horn of Africa—with the Gulf of Aden to the north and the vast Indian Ocean to the east— in 1991their coastal waters became particularly attractive to foreigners.  From Southern Europe, the Far East, Spain, Italy, Greece, the United Kingdom, Russia, Norway, Korea, China, the Philippines, Taiwan, and elsewhere, foreigners came into Somali territory to fish.  Since they lacked a license or permission, this constituted piracy (“sea robbers”). When the Somali people objected, the foreigners would shoot at them, pour boiling water over the fishermen, or run over the Somali fishing boats and take their fish. Europeans in particular would apprehend the Somali people who were trying to defend their territory and then call them pirates. Meanwhile, these foreigners engaged in dumping industrial waste, toxic waste, and nuclear waste into Somali waters, which of course compromises the health of both the Somali people and the fish. The Somali people complained to world organizations (e.g. United Nations and European Union) but were consistently ignored. Thus, in order to try to protect what belonged to them they had no choice but to fight.  The best way they knew how was instituting their own forms of piracy. In defense, each foreign country would protect its illegal fishermen by means of warships patrolling Somali waters. These foreigners constantly spy on or arrest Somali fisherman under the excuse that they may be pirates—a policy that discourages Somali people from fishing in their own toxic waters. Can you imagine Europeans’ world outrage reactions if the situation was reversed?

Hopefully, you see the necessity for researching both sides of an issue. There is no substitute for going to the trouble to learn the truth before taking action.

Pastor Sherman Scott spoke about “The Cross,” brethren, when I come to you, come not with Excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and Him Crucified. The aforementioned is the refrain to an old hymn of the church. While I absolutely love music of today I cannot deny the power of the hymns of the church.  The particular refrain is centered on the CROSS. The Cross is probably the most familiar of all Christian symbols is the cross. (I Con. 2: 1–2).

To the readers, friends and family that prayed for me while I was in the hospital, thank you so very much.  While being out and about, I was so blessed to speak with two readers that said that something I wrote helped and saved them. May I say to you again give GOD THE GLORY I’m just a servant used by God. I pray before I put down anything on paper.  You see, I’ve been given this awesome privilege to do what I do, and I’m grateful. It is God’s will not mine.

Parenting With And Without Godly Principles -- Part 4 of 4

It is a myth that a single mother cannot raise a wholesome son, because with God all things are possible.  The entire chapter of Proverbs 31 was the instruction of a mother to her son, Lemuel. She instructed him to be righteousness and also how to recognize a virtuous woman. The words of King Lemuel, the prophecy that his mother taught him. What, my son? And what, the son of my womb?  And what the son of my vows? Give not thy strength unto women, nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings.  It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink. Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgement of any of the afflicted.  Proverbs 31:1-4. Lemuel is mentioned only in the aforementioned verses of the Bible.

The first things that alerts expecting parents whether or not they are ready for parenthood is their willingness to sacrifice their personal pleasures and put their child’s health, safety, and welfare first. Good single parents will sacrifice their single lifestyle. There are many sacrifices mature parents make that an immature parent cannot conceive.

Recently I saw a sign in a restaurant near the bar area that read:

Notice - If you’re Pregnant, Drinking Alcohol, and Smoking may endanger your unborn child. However, in that restaurant there was a pregnant woman inhaling secondhand smoke and another actually drinking alcohol and smoking. I wondered about their commitment to their child. How much of their personal pleasure will they sacrifice after the child is born?  It occurred to me that none of these women were spiritually ready to become mothers. Giving up smoking and drinking is a small sacrifice compared to what God expects of a good parent.

It is difficult for a person to drop his or her comfortable bad habits and begin new good habits. A concerned single parent should not engage in any negative activity that may influence the children. The offspring had no choice in this situation. Parents owe children the respect and great consideration to provide the best possible living environment. This does not mean a home full of toys but it does mean that parent provide a home full of good moral principles.  Parents cannot use profanity in the present of children and expect better of the children. Parents cannot demonstrate insecurity but expect the children to handle problems maturely.  Nor can parents become hostile in order to enforce rules and expect the children to behave differently.  Parents should take a personal inventory of his or her character and begin to see themselves as their children see them. Children are three times as likely to conform to what they see rather than to what they are told. Suppose for a moment that all children had a choice from God before entering this world to choose which household and family they would inherit. Adults are blessed with a degree of choice as to what type of child they’ll bring into this world. For example, adults realize that if they select a mate of a different race their child will be interracial.  Adults realize that if they indulge in unprotected sex with a drug addict, they risk becoming parents of a drugaddicted baby. Adults have choices about the type of children they reproduce.  If you are a parent, take an inventory of yourself. If God gave children their choice of parents by exposing all potential parents’ character traits to the unborn, do you think your child would have chosen you? Would you like a parent like you? The change begins with you.  Godly children begin with godly parents.
