SAN BERNARDINO

The Board of Supervisors recently approved a $2,000 allocation to support the San Antonio Hospital Foundation.

The foundation supports the efforts of San Antonio Community Hospital. Foundation funding is used to enhance hospital care and to provide health services and education to the public. For example, the Foundation provides scholarships to nurses so they can enhance their skills by furthering their education. Foundation funding also enables the hospital to participate in community health fairs and other public events.

"The Foundation allows the hospital to do many great things for the community, and it will play an integral role as the hospital continues to grow and expand the quality medical services it offers," said Board of Supervisors Chairman Paul Biane, who requested the allocation.

The hospital plans to build a new tower that will add 104 beds to the main facility in Upland. The hospital also plans to expand its emergency room.

San Antonio Community Hospital is a 279-bed acute care medical facility with satellite offices in Rancho Cucamonga and Fontana. The hospital is a nonprofit organization governed by a 15-member Board of Trustees.
