Sonya Evans, RN, has recently received notable recognition from her patients, peers, and the academic community for her leadership and exemplary work as a pediatric nurse at Childrens Hospital in Loma Linda, as well as her role in co-founding The Unforgettables Foundation in 2000.

Raised in Farmersville, Ohio (a rural section of greater Dayton), Evans graduated from Kettering College of Medical Arts, and has worked as a registered nurse in Dayton, Washington D.C., and at Loma Linda for the past 13 years--being qualified in Cardiac Telemetry and Cardio-Vascular Lab, along with Acute Care Ped's including Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care experience. She specializes in adolescents and teens.

Nurse Evans has been honored to be named a Town and Gown recipient by the University of Redlands for their 20th anniversary class--the ceremony will take place this Saturday morning in Redlands. She also was blessed to be profiled in the acclaimed Inland Empire Magazine as a "peoples choice" winner in the March 2004 issue.

Ms Evans is married, lives in Highland, and is well known by friends to be a bundle of mischief who "avoids the limelight". Nevertheless, with the immediate and extensive impact of The Unforgettables- www.theunforgettables.com--across the Inland Empire in such a short period of time, her role in recognizing and tangibly responding to the financial plight of low-income, poor, and at-risk families who have experienced the death of a child, has brought the work of the volunteer group needed attention.

She is humbled and appreciative of the acknowledgement, but just wants to spend most of her time working out, making jewelry and, "being at home with Tim and the pets". Sonya is very thankful for all of the many volunteers--board members, donors and supporters who are dedicated to Unforgettables. She can be reached at 909.425.9636 or 725.9197
