The Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc Eta Nu Omega Chapter held their bi- annual Debutante Ball at the DoubleTree Hotel in Ontario recently. Seven beautiful young women (Nubian Pearls of Distinction) were introduced to society and made their formal debut on April 5, 2003.
Each girl entered the room as her parents or parent representatives sat proudly waiting to give permission for their daughters first sanctioned date. The Debutantes were: Whitney F. Armstrong, Bobbie Brown, Danielle N. Dorsey, Kristen A, Edwards, Joell F. Etienne, Jennifer R. Manley and Jenelle L. Miller.
This year, in an effort to illustrate the effectiveness of the program, former debutantes returned to present the new debutantes to the public. It was an inspiration to see the success of the former debutantes and to hear the dreams of the present ones.
The graduate Debutantes successes ranged from an entrepreneur to a Ph.D. candidate. All had finished at least four years of college or are attending college, most fulfilling their own stated goals when they entered the program. They were: Jalin Brooks, Regina Brown, Taryn Foster, (1995) Dorothy Harris, (1997) Arika Johnson, Carla Moore, (1999) Jillian Bailey, and Keisha Doxey, (2001).
