The Professional Beach Volleyball Tour, featuring the best male and female athletes in the world, will compete in Long Beach this weekend.
Dain Blanton, the first African American to win a gold medal (Sydney 2000) has decided to leave the Fox Sports broadcast booth and compete on the tour.
After a two year layoff, Dain plans to pick and choose preferred west coast events.
Jenny Johnson Jordan (daughter of Rafer) and playing partner Annette Davis have played in over 100 national and international events together. The former Olympic and UCLA teammates are consistently at the top in AVP tour points.
Johnson and Jordan played extremely well last week as they made it to the semifinals at Hermosa Beach. The athletically gifted duo can dominate a match when they get it going. Traveling with supportive husbands and children, it’s always a family affair.
This weekends tournament will be staged at Marina Green Park, 450 E. Shoreline Drive in Long Beach. Tickets are nominal and can be purchased at AVP.com or at the venue.
For those staying home this weekend, catch the action on Sunday on ABC for the Men’s Final at 4 pm. Also on ESPN 2 at 11 pm for the Women’s Final.
