Los Angeles - Its already an old storyline, but we keep seeing it every week. The Trojans start out slowly, their opponent gains confidence, make some great plays and the Trojan faithful get nervous.
Then the inevitable happens. The Trojans come to life, run off a slew of touchdowns and thats that. Another opponent added to a string of victories that now total 27 straight. The Trojans winning streak includes 23 straight at home and is the longest in the nation and the longest home winning streak in Pac 10 history.
USCs place in history is already being debated at barbershops, eateries and pubs all over the country. The Trojans are marching toward legendary status and patiently proving that they are one of historys great college football teams.
Against a solid Arizona Wildcat team USCs Lindell White again for the third consecutive week took the workload from a slightly banged-up (sprained knee) Reggie Bush and rushed for 179 yards on 27 carries and scored 4 touchdowns. Although slightly injured, Reggie Bush still rushed for 115-yards. Wide receiver Dwayne Jarrett had 9 catches for 116-yards. Heisman Trophy incumbent Quarterback Matt Lienart threw passes to 11 different receivers totaling 387-yards.
The Wildcats, like the previous two opponents were able to keep it respectable for the first half, but also like previous opponents, they faded in the second half yielding to the power of USCs offense. Theres no moral victory to be had here...a loss is a loss no matter who you are playing...we want to win. said former Moreno Valley star Darrell Brooks. Brooks a senior free safety lead the Wildcat defense with 14 tackles.
USC travels to South Bend on Saturday to face Notre Dame and resume one of college footballs greatest rivalries. It will be the 77th meeting between the two teams.
