Pro Football in Los Angeles; The Avengers are in the House

Staples Center-- A sheet of ice for the Kings, two pieces of  hardwood for the Clippers and Lakers. Roll out the fourth dimension, the green carpet for the L.A. Avengers, Southern California’s o­nly professional football team.

Essential for all new Arena Football League fans is knowing some basic information about your home team. The Avengers play home games at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Their colors are red, blue, gold and light blue. This is their 6th year in the league and their all time record is 38 - 38.

The Avengers owner and CEO is 30 year old Casey Wasserman, who at 24 became the youngest owner of a professional sports franchise.

After a season opening loss, the Avenger offense has taken off behind the arm of quarterback John Kaleo. The former University of Maryland star has thrown  12 touchdowns and averaged 49 points per game this season. Standout receiver Kevin Ingram is his favorite target and the pair connects o­n lots of big plays.

Following an opening week loss, the Avengers have bounced back by outlasting Georgia 46-41 at home and soundly beating Austin 64-51 last week.

The Avengers are currently 2-1 o­n the season and will return home this Sunday against the San Jose SabreCats.
