Los Angeles - The Earvin “Magic” Johnson legacy will ultimately be measured by those he has inspired.

Several years have passed since we have seen one of those patented Magic Johnson “no look” passes. His style of basketball made each teammate a little bit better and each viewer smile a little bit more. Most professional players, even the superstars, begin to fade away as their talent diminishes. Wilt becomes Kareem, who then becomes Shaq and so on.... Then there is Magic Johnson. The multidimensional player, the multi-talented businessman and the extraordinary human being.

Forbes magazine now lists Magic’s corporate worth at half a billion dollars. Remember, Magic played in the days prior to the mega millions some athletes receive today. He has dedicated himself to the community through a variety of business ventures and has experienced unparalleled success.

Magic Johnson Enterprises have launched theaters, shopping centers, coffee houses, TGI Fridays and 24 Hour Fitness centers. He also owns and operates skyscraper office buildings, minor league baseball teams and a nice piece of the Los Angeles Lakers.

Magic has rewritten the give in give back. His annual Midsummer Nights Magic has raised and given millions to various charities and he has personally sent several hundred teenagers to college.

Remember, Magic is only 44 years old. Starting his business career in the mid 1980’s, he had a relatively late start. When it is all said and done, we will need a new yard stick. How does one measure the success of a man who inspires more than he owns? We honor the man by erecting his likeness in front of the Staples Center.
