THE HUSKIES BEAT CORONA CENTENNIAL AND HEAD BACK TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME FOR THE THE THIRD CONSECUTIVE YEAR

North 45 Centennial 15

Alvarod Stadium - The J.W. North Huskies delivered a revenge filled performance against Corona Centennial in last Friday’s Division 5 semi-final game.

North was on the losing end of last years 57-55 triple overtime title game.

This year the two teams squared off in the semi-finals, a rematch of the 2001 contest.

Two years ago, underdog North upset a heavily favored Centennial team and advanced to win the championship. “We thought about this all year long” said North’s E.J Brown.

“We worked so hard all summer and in the weight room, there’s no way we were going to let this get away”.

North’s offense continued its march through opposing defenses with the same kind of dominance they have displayed all season.

North amassed 461 yards of total offense, 271 yards rushing and 190 passing yards.

North’s defense held Centennial to 224 yards of total offense, 184 rushing and 40 passing yards.

Centennial’s star running back Terrell Jackson finished with 147 yards rushing, but unlike last year’s 5 touchdowns, Jackson was held to one TD.

North will play Norco for the Division 5 championship on Friday night at Chaffey College.
