Some sixteen years ago John Young started RBI (Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities) at Algin Sutton Park with a $25,000 grant from Major League Baseball. From a handful of players, the program has grown to over 200,000 nationwide and in the Caribbean.

Riverside County’s 23rd Academic Decathlon, sponsored by the Riverside County Office of Education, begins o­n Saturday, January 28, at Arlington High School in Riverside.  The two-day event concludes o­n February 4.  The awards will be given o­n February 8.

As the clock wound down o­n USC’s final attempt to win the Rose Bowl and capture and unprecedented third national championship I found myself torn between conflicting emotions. Wanting to see USC reach the pentacle of success and at the same time silently rooting for Vince Young to deliver another o­ne of his many come from behind victories.
