Mt. Zion Baptist Church will be having its Annual Parking Lot Give-A-Way on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. There will be items such as: furniture, appliances, toys, clothing, etc. Everything is “FREE”. It is open to the public.

Good Friday is the day we remember the crucifixion of Jesus on the cross. Mt. Zion, under the leadership of Pastor Brian E. Kennedy, Sr., will hold Good Friday service on Friday, April 6, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. The service will be held at 224 W. California Street, Ontario and will feature the Seven Last Sayings of the Cross.

Continuing on Sunday, April 8, the church will celebrate the resurrection of Christ by hosting its annual community Easter Sunrise Service. This service will begin at 6:00 a.m. and will be held at the Jack Mercer Bandstand located at the corners of Euclid and C Street in the city of Ontario. Worshippers will gather at Jack Mercer Bandstand for the Easter Sunrise service where the Mt. Zion Mass Choir, under the direction of Leon McCrary, will provide good gospel music and Pastor Brian E. Kennedy, Sr. will deliver an inspiring message. Worshippers are encouraged to dress warmly, bring a lawn chair and come prepared for great music, the good news of our God’s love, and close fellowship.

Immediately following the Sunrise Service worshippers are invited to proceed to the church for regular worship services at 8:00 a.m., followed by an Easter Pageant at 9:30 a.m. where the Children’s Department, under the direction of Yvonne Okonji, will feature their annual Easter play.

Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) this course is a “must” for anyone who serves in the community and may respond to disasters or other crisis events as first responders, behavioral health, EAP, clergy, or other interventionists. Completion of “Group Crisis Intervention” and receipt of a certificate of completion qualifies as a CORE class in ICISF’s Certificate of Specialized Training Program. CISM will be on Friday, April 13, 2012 and Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on both days. The cost for the discounted tuition is $75.00 through March 23, 2012. Full tuition is $100.00 beginning March 24, 2012. It will be held at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 224 W. California St., Ontario, CA.
