Imam Earl Abdulmalik Mohammed (official representative of Imam W. Deen Mohammed, leader of the American Society of Muslims, ASM) will be one of the honored guest at the 8th Annual Youth Leadership Banquet to be held Saturday, June 28, 2003, 7:00 p.m. at the Riverside Convention Center.

Imam Abdulmalik has been a member of several delegations accompanying Imam W. Deen Mohammed abroad and has represented the interest of his ministry in Africa, the Middle East, Europe, the Caribbean, and South East Asia. He has also been instrumental in planning and participating in the historic meeting between Imam Mohammed and Pope John Paul II at the Vatican in Rome, 1999.

An additional honor will be Assemblymember John Longville of the 62nd District in San Bernardino who will deliver the banquet’s keynote address, “Utilizing Our Citizenship in a Competitive World.”

The purpose of the Youth Leadership Banquet is to recognize the accomplishments of high school graduates entering into their first year of college by providing them with a one thousand dollar scholarship and the encouragement they so aptly deserve for their hard work.

Honorees are selected from various racial, religious, and social backgrounds to be recognized in the areas of leadership, academics, athletics, and community service.

The weekend’s activities will culminate with Imam Abdulmalik giving a public address in the Riverside Convention Center’s Ben H. Lewis Hall on Sunday, June 29, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. on the theme, “Joining Hands for Progress.”
