Mt. Roubidoux

Celebrate Easter at the nations oldest, continuous, outdoor sunrise service atop Mount Rubidoux in Riverside with 89.7 KSGN-FM. On Sunday morning, April 20, an exciting event will occur atop Mt. Rubidoux -- an Easter sunrise service. And not just any service, but a very special one-of-a-kind celebration. It’s the oldest continuous Easter sunrise service in America.

Since 1909, it’s been held every year except for three years during World War II. Even in 1969, the year the official service was rained out, celebrants hiked up the mountain anyway and held their own service.

This is the spirit that ignites the Mt. Rubidoux service every year: it’s not just an event, it’s a journey. As one participant said, “It’s a truly life-changing experience to be huddled together with other worshippers as the sun rises.”

The one hour service begins at 6:30 a.m. The walk up the summit takes 30-45 minutes, and Boy Scouts start lighting the trail at 4 a.m.
