Money for Churches

World-renowned and Grammy Award winning gospel group, Sweet Honey in the Rock, will not only help ring in the holidays with powerful music and harmony but the ensembles next performance, which, will be held December 6, at Riverside’s Municipal Auditorium, will offer local area churches an opportunity to benefit from holiday ticket sales.
After an exceptional and practically sell-out crowd for Apollo Amateur Night, Riverside Municipal Auditorium is giving back for the holidays. Terry Boykins, who is arranging the campaign stated, “With the amount of effort put forth by churches during this time of the year to feed, uplift, care for, and inspire residents throughout the Inland Empire, it makes good sense to share in, and be a part of, the contribution process. Riverside Municipal Auditorium is making a sincere effort in bringing top quality performing and cultural arts to the Inland Empire. If it is supported by the community, there will always be something given back to the community.”
Another significant element to Sweet Honey in the Rock’s performances is that, the quintets’ words are interpreted in stylized American Sign Language, allowing the deaf community to enjoy a powerful demonstration of praise and love.
Featured in the ensemble are Ysaye Maria Barnwell, Nitanju Bolade Casel, Aisha Kahlil, Carol Lynn Maillard, Bernice Johnson Reagon, and Shirley Childress Saxton.
