BIBLE MEDITATION:
“This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
(Psalm 118:24 KJV)

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
If you could TIVO your life, what parts are worth seeing again?

There is a wonderful gadget on my television, it’s called a TIVO. It records.. movies, news and other broadcast to insure that I don’t miss them.

I can.. anticipate upcoming broadcasts and often get replays of old broadcasts, all..with a touch of the remote.

While watching a taped episode of “Bonanza” last night, my mind drifted on..the question . What if life offered a TIVO experience? It would be.. interesting to see the replay of all the episodes that happened in my life.. that I missed while I was doing what I thought was important. I probably..missed a lot.

Fast Forward. There’s a life coming up, I don’t want to miss any of it. Too..bad I can’t TIVO it and cut out all of the commercials and obligations: .. reading, studying, praying, serving, earning a living and all of that..mandatory stuff. It would be really neat if I could just get down to the.. part where I will be blessed. If I fall, I can skip to the part where I get..up on the TIVO edition of my life. .. That would be cool! Skip what I don’t.. like and zero in on the good parts! Is there anybody out there that sells.. one of these life TIVO’s?

Unfortunately TIVO’s only work on television sets, not human lives. We have..to live one day at a time, commercials and all. We can’t skip the tears and..go straight to the smiles; neither can we skip the pain and jump to the joy...We must live each day one day at a time.

ACTION POINT:
Seize the moment! Live in the present! David said, “This is the day which.. the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Today is a gift from.. God; take it and squeeze every ounce of joy out of it! Today is the next..installment of your lifetime episode...No TIVO! .. Your Movie’s on! ..‘This is..the day’, live in it.”

In His Love & Service,
Pastor Larry E. Campbell

It’s spring and that means it’s time for the Deb’s and Beau’s Annual Etiquette Luncheon & Tea. This year marks the 17th year of this event.

The Debutantes of the 2011 Christian Cotillion/Beautillion (CCB) attended two etiquette workshops facilitated by Ms. Earlene Freeman, which culminated with the Luncheon and Tea on April 3, 2011.

The Debutante’s Luncheon & Tea wi th guest speaker Dr. Ramona Hyman was simply marvellous.

Each Debutante took great effort preparing their table settings, with each table setting being judged by the Chairperson Mrs. Yolanda “Angel” Cohill as per their etiquette training.

Every year the Deb’s & Beau’s participate in a six month program which consists of cultural, civic, etiquette, current events and public speaking workshops. As one part of the cultural aspect, the Debutante’s saw the Disney’s Broadway Musical “Beauty and The Beast” at the Pantages Theater in Los Angeles.

The debutantes volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House for families of hospitalized children in Loma Linda. They also had a chance to take part in the “Young African American Women’s Conference” presented by Del ta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. with guest speaker NBC News Correspondent Beverly White. Ms. Cohill has been involved with this program since inception.

She worked closely wi th the founder, the late Ms. Roylestine Bowman, who began the CCB seventeen years ago. Mrs. Cohill has picked up the baton and hasn't stopped.

She states: “Every child should be afforded the opportunity to experience a Cotillion, not just the privileged children of the elite”.
