Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and He shall sustain thee."
The story goes that there was a man carrying a heavy load of grain down a country road. Another man in a horse-drawn wagon saw him and said, "Mister, do you need a ride?" So the man walking got in the wagon, but he kept the load of grain on his shoulder. The wagon driver said, "Man, put that down and relax!" But the man answered, "Oh no. It's enough to ask you to carry me without having you carry this also."
Have you ever done that to the Lord?
You say, "Lord, I'll let You save me, but I'll carry my own burdens."
How foolish we are to do this with the God who hung the stars and planets.
As Christ followers we don't run from reality, we face reality fortified by faith and trust in the Lord.
When problems come our way, we take them to the Lord. The Apostle Peter gives this advice, "Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about what happens to you." I Peter 5:7
As Christians we have the promise that no matter what challenges come our way or what happens to us, Jesus is our source of strength.
Jesus said, "Don't worry about tomorrow, tomorrow will take care of itself." Matthew 6:34 If you can trust the Lord to save you from hell, don't you think you can cast your burden upon Him right now? Let's do as the Psalmist and call upon the Lord. Let's apply God's promises to our daily life.
Write out the promises and use them as a reminder to "Cast all your cares, anxieties and worries upon the Lord because He cares for you."
