Thursday, January 7, 2010, San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino is pleased to welcome living legends Patti LaBelle and the O’Jays to the San Manuel stage. Tickets are available now at Ticketmaster.com and the San Manuel Box Office for $50, $60 and $70. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Coming off her latest project, The Gospel According to Patti LaBelle, LaBelle is no stranger to the success this recent album has had, debuting at number 1 on the Top Gospel Albums chart.
LaBelle, born in Philadelphia, is not only known as a legendary singer, but has made a name for herself through strong vocals, eccentric style, wild hairdos, and a powerful stage presence.
Her cross-generational appeal as helped her to earn 35 singles on the American R&B Top 100 Charts, along with producing a whopping 30 albums, which received five Gold and one Platinum certification . Known as one of the greatest and most powerful vocalist of all time, LaBelle’s resume also includes philanthropist, designer, best-selling book author, and Honorary Doctorate Degree holder.
LaBelle is a two-time Grammy® Award winner, received during her solo career in the early 1990’s. After 40+ years making such international hits as “Back Stabbers,” “For The Love Of Money,” Darlin’ Darlin’ Baby,” “Love Train,” and more, The O’Jays are proven true American living legends. The current group comprised of Eddie Levert, Sr., Walter Williams, Sr., and Eric Nolan Grant, has proven time and time again that the mixture of “ol’ school” and contemporary is a winning formula, which includes their induction in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in March 2005.
The group has spawned 24 Top 10 smashes and 59 total charted songs. Their most recent album, “For The Love” released in 2001, was a chart topper, and was nominated for a Grammy® Award the following year. Other accolades include an American Music Award in 1990 for “Best Duo” and “Best Group”, an NAACP Award for “Outstanding Vocal Group” in 1991, as well as three more Grammy Award nominations in the 1970’s.
Their level of stardom was proven when, in 2005, the city of Canton, Ohio named a street after the group calling it O’JAYS Parkway.
