BROADWAY PLAY "FOR COLORED GIRLS WHO HAVE CONSIDERED SUICIDE...WHEN THE RAINBOW IS ENUF" RETURNS TO THE INLAND EMPIRE! On Friday, October 3, 2003, at 8:00 P.M, Ntozake Shange' Broadway play, “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide…When The Rainbow Is Enuf” will be performing at the Downtown Riverside Municipal Auditorium and Performing Arts Center located at 3485 Mission Inn Ave.

Doors will open at 7:00 P.M. Producer Michael Sessions of Soul and Spirit Productions says, “I chose this play to produce because it clearly shows the survival of women of color – women who have had to survive in the face of despair and pain. After presenting this play twice in the Inland Empire, I can see that there is a thirst for men and women to be inspired and uplifted.

For Colored Girls tells the world of what it is like to be is to be female and of color in modern America. I am pleased to announce and introduce our new director, Robert DoQui, a versatile entertainer well known for his work in the entertainment industry including being a stuntman for Eddie Murphy in the Dr. Doolittle series and other movies.” Play director DoQui says, “I believe that it is my God anointed and appointed mission to direct this play.

This play talks about the whole woman, her mishaps, triumphs, hopes and fears. Each member of the cast brings something to the table we call “Life.” The play is written in a poetic form and deals with subjects as love, abandonment, rape and the hardships of physical and emotional abuse. This has been a remarkable experience and together, we all are growing because of this project.”

Tickets are $25.00 in advanced and $28.00 at the door that does not include the $1.00 facility fee. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster outlets and five community outlets including AMC Music & Video and Ruby’s Bar-B-Q in San Bernardino and Berean’s Christian Bookstores in Riverside.
